Trust people who are trustworthy.
Lola & The Poets Podcast is a virtual alchemical workshop designed for spiritual detectives, our art material is the vast vault of our planetary heritage of storytelling & healing, the artistic process is one of soul exploration, and artistic production is of a personal magical nature, applied in our lives as a tool for being a better human.
In Episode One I’ll be introducing the series as host, talking about the idea of the magical real, the place of the esoteric in psychology, society, culture & the arts, the topics we will be covering on the shows, guests we will have, and a bit about my life & professional background, how it is connected to what the show will be about. (42 mins)
What we’ll be exploring on Lola & The Poets, and with our guests, are our own magical journeys – the way the mystical and the mundane are intertwined. The topics we’ll be discussing are philosophies, cosmologies, myths, spiritual practices & storytelling across the globe, the imaginal realm, shamanic cultures, transcendental states, transpersonal and archetypal psychology, art psychotherapy, creative exploration of the mystical, use of artistic expression as a therapeutic tool, anthropology of ritual, cinema as modern magic, personal symbolism and temenos – the sacred space, dreams & dream time, shadow work, body language, animal wisdom, plant healing practices, ancestral lineage healing, archetypal patterns in our lives, paranormal & psychedelic experiences, gift of prophecy, astrology, tarot, various forms of divination, precognition & psychic awareness, psychogeography, wanderlust, and the holy pilgrimage. Seeing the world through the eyes of a poet.
I will endeavour to have an episode out every odd Thursday, which means that it will drop when there’s something to say, or a guest to talk to – but the day of the week will always be the same.
Downloads are not yet available, but they will be soon. Please follow this blog for notifications, or visit my YouTube channel, if it is your preferred way to subscribe. I’ll always be uploading the episodes there, too.
Stay tuned, poets.
*NB the inevitable disclaimer – although I am a psychologist & film historian by education, and in training as arts psychotherapist, I am a writer & visual artist by vocation, and this podcast follows a personal journey, as well as the journeys and life experiences of our guests. It’s meant for philosophical & creative inspiration – and in itself is not therapy or substitute for therapy. However, it is dedicated as an offering of a virtual temenos for accessing the therapeutic numinous, and being of good service to your soul in exploring the potentials of each moment in time.

It cannot be corrupted what comes naturally.
It only shows its fangs when the opportunity arises and it knows you are trapped.
Surprise it with a smile. And the antidote in your pocket.
Whatever we curse returns to us threefold.
No rest for the (un)winged.
All the layers of our soul we are willing to give up for fleeting attention.
